Weekend with Gee

Mom called to see if she could have Brooke for the weekend, so we met in Terrell on Thursday night. Brooke was beside herself and couldn't wait to see Gee! Mom called me on Friday morning to tell me about their car ride home:

Mom said that Brooke was in the backseat muttering something over and over and finally realized that she was saying, "darn, darn, darn."

M: Brooke let's not say that, it doesn't sound very nice.
B: Damn!
M: Brooke! We don't talk like that. Where did you hear that?
B: I don't know.
M: Does Mommy talk like that?
B: No.
M: Does Daddy talk like that?
B: No.
M: Does Ms. LaShawn talk like that?
B: No.
M: Well let's not talk like that. It hurts God's ears.
B: How does it hurt his ears?
M: He doesn't like it when we talk like that, so let's think of a better word.
B: Damnit!

I was cracking up when mom was telling me the story! Kids say the darndest things...I have no idea where she came up with that, but she definitely won't be saying it anymore!

That's not all....

Mom called this morning to tell me that she took Brooke to her church Halloween Party. Brooke was playing at a booth that was set up by a Drug-Free/Alcohol-Free awareness group. Brooke played and then the ladies gave her some candy and a koozie. Brooke looked at the koozie and said "That's for beer!" Everyone started laughing and mom said, "It's for Coke" and Brooke's response..."You can use it for Root Beer and Beer!"

Oh boy. Anyone who doesn't know me would think that I curse and drink all the time!
